It was started as expected. 32nd Book fair in Chennai. Previous year’s formalities were properly replicated. The most disappointing thing is , former President Dr.Abdul Kalam , who supposed to deliver a speech, could not drop by owing to illness. Contemporary playwright, actor and writer Mr.Girish Karnard’s facilitation was heart-warming. Stalls were spacious.

Not much people were present, though the organizers announced free entry! Where were you Chennai? Come and refresh. Expecting more people in coming days. I have collected pamphlets to plan! Many events are taking place in this city at the moment. I am dying to attend ! Let’s see how it goes. Another reasonably good day of my life.

Information to India

Hi All,

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at http://pgportal.gov.in/

Can you imagine this is happening in INDIA? (unable to get just type http://www.pgportal.gov.in)

The govt. wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways, Highways etc.

Many of us say that these things don’t work in India. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dug up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents. A resident used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. To his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of Faridabad were served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it’s clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don’t know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the ‘System’ in India. Invite your friends to contribute for many such happenings.

PLEASE SPREAD THIS MESSAGE IF YOU WANT OUR INDIA TO HAVE A BETTER TOMORROW.

Orissa – Cuttack

Posted: January 6, 2009 in Vathsan's Voyage..!

Cuttack was the capital of Orissa for almost nine centuries,  before Bhubaneshwar was made as capital in 1948. Cuttack is also known as Millenium City, still the Cultural Capital of Orissa. It lies near Bhubaneshwar, Puri and Konark. Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar are known as twin cities of Orissa.

It is 29 Km away from Bhubaneshwar. My travel to Cuttack by bus was one hell of a journey. Simply because, bus was too tiny and the adamant conductors are determined to accommodate up to the last citizen of Bhubaneshwar! I was so lucky, only three persons were standing on my shoulders! Pains were vanished soon as I have landed.

Unlike Bhubaneshwar, I have had a great typical Orissa-flavored food. Thanks to my Clients who are too friendly. Bike journey via Kathajodi River was more than a boon. The River, flows in the south whereas Mahanadhi in the North both meets the water needs and beautify the State.

As I said in previous post, did not explore much to write about. I will do that  sooner than later!

Orissa – Bhubaneshwar

Posted: January 6, 2009 in Vathsan's Voyage..!

I have a confession to make. I went to Orissa on July 2008 and started wordpress blogging in December 2008. Situation has changed drastically in some part of Orissa as far as peaceful living is concerned. I hope, Orissa can overcome from its obstacles soon.

Bhubaneshwar is the latest capital city. Previous capital was Cuttack. Bhubaneshwar is built in a well-planned manner.  Roads are associated with trees instead of Political and film posters. Its the richest consolation to my eyes. I must say! Buses are mostly private. Its too tiny to accommodate passengers. Government must do something ! Food wasn’t spicy. I am not aware of the better restaurants! Suggestions are most welcome !

People starts with Oriya, then switch to Hindi, if they come to know that you are a stranger. I can’t speak both languages properly of course! I am eagerly learning. The city has  rich tradition and culture which goes back 2000 years.

Tourists can havethe best time of their life. I can tell you. Bhubaneshwar is known as Temple City. My visit was meant to be an official one. Unfortunately, not much time left to explore the city. Information furnished here were obtained from my Clients over there. I am anticipating to another visit soon to share with you more !
